Kitchen Remodeling Done Right!

The kitchen gets more use than any other room in the house. When it stops working — not enough storage, worn-out surfaces, a layout that doesn’t flow — it affects everything. We fix that.

We handle kitchen remodeling projects of all sizes, from a single element like cabinets or countertops to a full gut-and-rebuild.

Here’s What We Do:

Cabinets

Cabinets take up more visual space in a kitchen than anything else, and they’re the backbone of your storage. Whether you’re replacing builder-grade boxes or starting from scratch, we handle both stock/semi-custom installs and fully custom builds.

What we work with:

  • Solid wood (oak, maple, cherry, hickory — depends on your style and budget)
  • Shaker style, flat-front, raised-panel, and frameless options
  • Laminate and thermofoil for a cleaner look at a lower price point
  • Custom sizing for awkward spaces, vaulted ceilings, or peninsula layouts

On custom cabinets: When standard sizing doesn’t fit your kitchen, we build to your dimensions. That’s especially useful for corner spaces, appliance spaces, pull-out pantry columns, or any layout where off-the-shelf cabinets leave dead space. Custom work costs more and takes longer — we’ll give you an honest comparison during the consultation so you can decide what makes sense.

Cabinet installation follows a specific sequence: upper cabinets go in before lowers, and everything gets leveled off a reference line rather than off the floor (floors aren’t always level). Hardware and soft-close hinges are installed and adjusted at the end.

Countertops

Countertops take a beating — heat, moisture, cutting, daily cleaning. The right material depends on how you cook and what you want the space to look like.

Materials we install:

  • Granite — natural stone, heat-resistant, every slab is unique. Needs to be sealed periodically. Good for kitchens that get heavy use.
  • Quartz (engineered stone) — consistent color and pattern, non-porous, no sealing required. Easier to maintain than natural stone. Popular in The Woodlands market right now.
  • Butcher block — warm look, works well as an island top or prep area. Needs regular oiling and is more susceptible to water damage if neglected.
  • Laminate — significantly lower cost, improved dramatically in recent years. Not heat-proof, but a practical choice when budget is a priority.
  • Porcelain slab — gaining popularity, very durable, works for both counters and backsplash for a seamless look.

Your sink choice affects your countertop — pick one before you make your countertop decision. The three main types each have different requirements:

  1. Undermount — mounts below the countertop surface. Clean look, easy to wipe debris straight into the sink. Requires a solid-surface material (granite, quartz, stone) that can support the weight and be polished at the cut edge. Can’t be done with laminate.
  2. Drop-in (top-mount) — sits on top of the counter with a visible rim. Works with any countertop material including laminate. Easier to install and replace. The rim can trap grime over time.
  3. Farmhouse / apron-front — the front face of the sink is exposed and replaces the cabinet face below it. Requires a specific base cabinet cut out to accommodate the sink depth, and that modification needs to happen before countertop templating. Stone and fireclay are the common materials. If you’re considering a farmhouse sink, tell us at the consultation — it affects cabinet ordering and sequencing, not just the countertop.

Countertop installation for stone requires templating after cabinets are set — the fabricator comes out, measures the exact layout, and cuts to fit. That adds 1–2 weeks between cabinet install and countertop install depending on the fabricator’s schedule. We coordinate that process for you.

Backsplash

A backsplash protects the wall behind your cooktop and sink, but it’s also the easiest place to add character to a kitchen without a major investment. We install tile, stone, and panel backsplashes — from simple subway tile to full-height statement walls.

Common options:

  • Ceramic and porcelain tile — durable, easy to clean, wide range of sizes and colors
  • Glass tile — reflective, brightens a space, works well in smaller kitchens
  • Natural stone (travertine, marble, slate) — natural variation, typically requires sealing
  • Large-format tile — fewer grout lines, cleaner look, requires a very flat wall surface
  • Peel-and-stick panels — not something we recommend for a lasting install, but we’ll tell you why if you ask

Backsplash work typically happens after countertops are in. The tile height above the counter, grout color, and pattern direction are decisions we’ll walk through with you before we start.

Flooring

Kitchen flooring needs to handle water, dropped items, heavy foot traffic, and still look good doing it. We install several flooring types and will help you pick what actually fits your household.

What we install:

  • Porcelain or ceramic tile — the workhorse of kitchen floors. Hard, water-proof, easy to clean. Grout joints can collect grime over time; larger format tiles mean fewer joints. Popular in Houston because it handles humidity well.
  • Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) — waterproof, softer underfoot than tile, installs faster. Quality has improved a lot. A good option for kitchens that flow into living areas where you want a continuous look.
  • Hardwood — real wood in a kitchen is beautiful but requires more maintenance in a high-moisture environment. We install it but will give you an honest conversation about what that means long-term.
  • Engineered hardwood — more stable than solid hardwood in humid conditions. Better suited for kitchens than solid if you want a wood look.

Flooring installation requires subfloor prep. We check for levelness, moisture, and any soft spots before anything goes down. In kitchens, the sequence matters: flooring typically goes in after cabinets are set (so you’re not paying to floor under cabinets) but before appliances.

See Our Process for installation sequencing details.

Design & Layout

Most kitchen remodels don’t require moving walls, but some do — or should. If your kitchen feels cramped, dark, or disconnected from adjacent spaces, the layout may be the actual problem, not just the finishes.

We offer design consultation as part of the project kickoff. We’ll look at your current layout and talk through what’s working and what isn’t. Common changes we handle:

  • Opening up a wall between the kitchen and dining or living area
  • Adding or repositioning an island
  • Relocating the sink (involves plumbing — we coordinate with licensed plumbers)
  • Adding or improving lighting — under-cabinet, recessed, pendant
  • Expanding into adjacent pantry or closet space

For clients who want to explore styles before committing, the Design Ideas page has kitchen style examples — modern minimalist, rustic farmhouse, transitional, and more.

If you’re earlier in the process and not sure what you want, that’s a fine place to start. The consultation is free.

How Kitchen Projects Work

Kitchen remodels involve multiple trades and a set sequence. The short version:

  1. Consultation and design decisions
  2. Demo — existing cabinets, countertops, flooring, and fixtures removed
  3. Any structural, electrical, or plumbing work (subcontracted to licensed Texas trades)
  4. Cabinet installation
  5. Countertop templating and fabrication (stone/quartz takes 1–2 weeks after cabinets)
  6. Flooring installation
  7. Countertop installation
  8. Backsplash
  9. Appliances, fixtures, hardware
  10. Final walkthrough

The full process — timelines, what to expect during the project, how we handle disruptions to your household — is covered in detail on Our Process page.
